Alton Towers: THE SMILER Opening DelayedPosted by r0llerc0ast3r / 23 May : 01:41 The opening of the very highly anticipated new roller coaster at Alton Towers has been delayed. The coaster was scheduled to open to the public today May 23, 2013. However, during testing the coaster must have been malfunctioning on occasion causing park officials to raise eyebrows. In fact during the official media event yesterday the train supposedly got stuck on a lift hill for a half hour with a train full of journalists.
FunSpot USA Opens Both New Roller CoastersPosted by r0llerc0ast3r / 23 May : 01:15 FunSpot USA located in Orlando, FL has finally opened both White Lightning & The Freedom Flyer coasters. The park has undergone a huge expansion costing $25 million for new rides, coasters, and buildings bringing the parks size from 5 acres to 15 acres. The park also installed a 250 ft. SkyCoaster that can be seen from I4. However, that has yet to open. The park will hold an Opening Ceremony on July 8th which is also the parks 15th Anniversary!
Dorney Park Battles Township for Nightly Firework DisplayPosted by r0llerc0ast3r / 23 May : 01:03 Dorney Park has filed an appeal after South Whitehall Officials denied the request for a nightly firework display ranging from 5-7 minutes each night starting June 29th and ending August 5th. The park is known to have very large firework displays on Patriotic Holidays that usually last up to 20 mins. There has been no statement or decision made by officials of the township who state the nightly fireworks would bring noise for the local neighborhoods.
